When will the timeskip take place?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the sequel to Masashi Kishimoto’s magnum opus Naruto and follows the story of Boruto Uzumaki, the son of the Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure, Naruto Uzumaki. The series is set in a peaceful era where wars no longer exist, and the world is largely much better than before, all thanks to Naruto Uzumaki. Though peace reigns in all the major shinobi villages, the story begins in a rather grim tone, where Konohagakure appears to have been utterly destroyed and two characters, namely Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki, are in the midst of it.

Boruto Uzumaki goes on to say that the era of shinobi is over and, it seems, Kawaki has a lot to do with that. However, the exact events are unknown to fans as the story quickly moves back four years to the beginning of Boruto Uzumaki’s journey as a ninja. This clearly established that there will certainly be a timeskip in borutobut the question remains, when will? boruto enter the time skip?

When will Boruto enter his timeskip?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations definitely won’t be as long a manga series as its predecessor, Naruto, which means that events like entering the timeskip will happen sooner rather than later. Having already reached nearly 70 chapters, boruto may very well have been done halfway through or more, especially considering that the author, Ikemoto, has previously said he plans to finish the tour with about 20 volumes. Considering that Boruto is pretty close to its ending, it’s no surprise if the manga is actually pretty close to entering its timeskip.

At the same time, the ongoing events in the story also strongly indicate that boruto is approaching his timeskip. With Isshiki Otsutsuki already dead, all attention is already focused on Kawaki, who has inherited his real powers through a weaponized Karma integrated into his body by none other than Amado. Meanwhile, Boruto Uzumaki already has Otsutsukified 100%, meaning he already has Momoshiki’s power in his body. These are without a doubt great developments for two of the main characters in the series and are the biggest indication that the timeskip is pretty close.

At the same time, Borutos the previous chapter also gave fans a good look at the other members of Team 7 and even Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki, all of whom have a personal need to get stronger in order to fight those of the Otsutsuki. With Boruto and Kawaki already moving forward, Sarada and Mitsuki must catch up, while Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha must find ways to make themselves relevant again in terms of the fights. All this can be handled perfectly with a timeskip that is integrated into the story sooner rather than later. That said, it seems like Borutos timeskip is almost with the fans and could be perfectly integrated into the story after the Code Arc.

What the Timeskip means for the story

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will probably go into its timeskip pretty soon and that certainly means big things for the overarching plot of the story. First, fans will see Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki train hard to reach the level of Code, who is currently the strongest character in the entire story. As things stand, they have absolutely no chance against the monster that he is and need guidance from someone strong, preferably someone like Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha or even Kashin Koji to level them up with Code.

At the same time, the timeskip would pave the way for Sarada Uchiha to awaken new powers, such as her Mangekyo Sharingan. Since Sarada rarely gets time in chapters, it wouldn’t be hard to assume her biggest power-ups could come off screen, which, while incredibly sad, is the truth. In addition to Sarada becoming more powerful, Mitsuki was also able to gain tremendous power. With Orochimaru’s help, fans were able to watch him grow much stronger and overtake names like Boruto and Kawaki.

In addition, the timeskip could also mean great things for both Naruto and Sasuke, as the two definitely need to get stronger to live up to the expectations of the people and the titles they both carry. Most importantly, the timeskip would mean getting Boruto closer to the prologue fans want to see, where both Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki battle each other amid a destroyed Konohagakure. Fans have been on the edge of their seats to know the full truth of the situation and only a timeskip can answer all questions regarding the tragedy that appears to have befallen Konohagakure in the future.
