In an interview with ETMarkets, Chowdhary said: “An important aspect of vipassana is learning it now. It is a difficult practice, but with time and effort, it becomes easy,” edited excerpts :
Thanks for joining the show. You have at least 2 years of experience and more in international investment banking – what is your journey and more importantly how do you deal with difficult situations?
I started an exciting journey full of valuable lessons and experiences from different places. Most importantly, I have come to appreciate the importance of balancing challenges and issues in my personal and professional life.
Although my failures are my biggest challenges, they have given me valuable experiences and lessons.
It is important to accept and learn from these experiences, recognizing that sometimes, setbacks provide more important lessons than successes.
Therefore, I have developed the ability to progress and not allow these failures to define me, recognizing them as an opportunity for growth and development.
Adaptability is an important skill to acquire because no two situations will be the same. One is to be persistent, to be persistent and persistent. It’s good to learn fast – but most importantly, you need to have the mindset of a constant learner because life’s journey is a marathon and you’re always learning.
Acceptance is important – when you accept a situation, you can focus on improving and moving forward. .
Vipassana is one of the oldest techniques. Tell us more about your routine?
Vipassana is something I have come to appreciate over the years. There are different ways to reach the same end, and for me, Vipassana is one of the best.
It was introduced to me during MBA, but I never practiced it. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself drawn back to it, and it gave me opportunities to think.
The biggest lesson I learned from Vipassana is the importance of accepting things as they are. Many of us try to change things that are out of our control, which often leads to pain and disappointment.
But we must learn to accept reality, while always striving to grow and improve. It’s a delicate balance, but vipassana has helped me understand that the process of growth is as important as the outcome.
Another important aspect of vipassana is learning to be in the present moment. It’s hard work, but with time and effort, it’s easy. I try to think and see what’s going on around me without being judgmental. This helped me stay focused and focused.
As part of my routine, I try to practice meditation for at least an hour a day, sometimes more if I have time. The key is discipline and practice.
Of course, like everyone else, I have my ups and downs, but I’ve learned to accept them instead of fighting them.
Overall, Vipassana has been invaluable in helping me manage mental health issues. One piece of advice I would give to anyone starting out is to focus on understanding how energy flows within you, before setting ambitious training goals. ; just go with the flow.
As I said before, Vipassana is not the only way, and although it works for me, I encourage everyone to find their own way to take care of their mental health.
Apart from Vipassana we have heard that you are quite literate. Tell us a specific book that investors should read.
As an investor, I believe there is no one right way to read books. There are many good books out there that can provide valuable insights into investing, decision making, and life in general.
Another book I really like is “Poor Charlie’s Almanack: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger”. It gives a lot of insight into what he did in his life and what happened to him.
It is also good to read biographies, because they provide information about the lives of successful people and the challenges they faced.
On the topic of thinking, one book I recommend is “Thinking, Fast and Slow.” This book talks about our thinking system and how we make decisions.
As investors, we are always making decisions, and understanding our thought process can help us make better decisions.
There are also classic books on investing, such as “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham. These books provide practical wisdom that can be applied to any financial plan.
In summary, there are many good books out there that investors can read to gain valuable insights. Although I can’t recommend just one book, I suggest looking for different books on different topics to expand your knowledge and get a better perspective on investing and with life.
Do you have any learning or management lessons to share with readers from Vipassana?
1) One of the most important things I have learned from Vipassana is the importance of strong belief in what you do. If you hesitate, the trip will not work. Therefore, it is important to have strong faith and not allow doubts to enter.
2) Another lesson is to align your life with your values and what you want to give back to society. This helps in deciding which businesses to pursue.
3) Taking care of people is important. You can be a boss and get things done without creating an atmosphere of jealousy or negativity. It’s about being difficult, but love and care are very important to me. The idea is to make sure there is no personal hatred or negativity creeping in. I try to avoid this and keep personal issues out of jobs.
Why has mental health become so important, especially after COVID? Have any information you would like to share?
Mental health is important, yet it is a taboo subject in our society. While physical well-being and fitness are widely discussed, mental health is often overlooked and misunderstood.
But just like we train our body, we need to train our mind and recognize the weaknesses of our mental health. COVID-19 has brought this to the fore and given us a moment of self-reflection.
Personally, I’ve been dealing with anxiety during the pandemic that brought concerns about the ideas of Lighthouse Canton. It has been shown in the form of various physical diseases.
I was lucky enough to see the signs and address them early, but not many people have this knowledge. There is a lot of ignorance about mental health, and it is important to address it before it becomes a serious issue.
Discussing and addressing mental health issues is common and we need to talk about it more openly and more.
