The 10 best anime for fans of the Predator movies

After the critical praise for Preythe latest release in the Predator franchise, on Disney+, fans have enjoyed watching the enemy take on Comanche fighter Naru. And they can enjoy more action from the alien fighter in the latest Marvel Comics Predator issues as the writers continue to experiment with new storylines around the iconic antagonist.


But fans can also enjoy some anime shows that are bound to strike a chord with them on some level. Whether it’s alien warriors looking to test their skills or people going against the odds in sci-fi worlds, there are plenty of series to enjoy.

10/10 Gargantia on the green planet

Even though it only lasts one season, Gargantia on the green planet currently has four and a half out of five stars on Crunchyroll. In the far future where humanity has been living in space for generations, a young soldier and his mecha find themselves on Earth where people still live.

The character’s journey on an unusual planet and trying to get out of it safely is reminiscent of Predators as the cast tried to evade the aliens who wanted to kill them on an alien world. 9/10 One Punch Man

The hit series follows Saitama, a hero who is tired of beating monsters with just one punch every time. A satire on formula manga featuring powerful heroes, the show embraces its absurd humor and delivers some great action scenes as well.

With the arrival of powerful aliens looking for the strongest warrior against the season one finale, the series introduces some of the greatest battles to date as the leader tries to defeat Saitama in a visually impressive battle that is considered as one of the best in anime. It’s as entertaining as Dutch and his comrades take on the alien fighter that leaves some wanting more.

8/10 This boy can fight aliens

Perhaps one of the more unusual anime titles to come out in 2011, the miniseries saw an unexpected defender when aliens invaded Earth into a teenager with the power to defeat them. But he suffers from amnesia and must try to get them back to face the invading threats for good.

It may have warm colors and a charming design, but the story of taking on the unknown as the teen questions himself may convince some Predator fans to give this quirky anime a try. If nothing else, at least it tried to do something different compared to other alien invasion movies that preceded it.

Based on Sui Ishida’s manga, Tokyo Ghou introduced the public to the gothic underworld of Tokyo, where ghosts coexist with humans. After surviving a horrific attack of one, Ken Kaneki becomes a half-human, half-ghoul and must learn to use his newfound powers while hiding his secret from those closest to him.

It may not seem like something at first Predator fans will like it but it has similar ideas as Predator 2 while Ken chases through the city battling murderous ghosts. And with plenty of gory violence from the action scenes, some may even enjoy the horrific deeds these villains and heroes do to each other all the time.

6/10 Knights of Sidonia

Originally released in 2014 and a series consisting of two seasons, Knights of Sidonia saw Nagate Tanikaze protect a spaceship from the Guana, a group of aliens trying to claim it for themselves. Six years after the second season, fans rejoiced when a film was released continuing Nagate’s adventures on the Sidonia.

Although the location resembles something? Alien enthusiasts would enjoy, this threat showed that they are smart and methodical creatures with their own codes. They can even pilot their own spaceships, making them a deadly force not to be subverted in one of the best Netflix anime shows.

5/10 Gintama

The series may have ended with a theatrical outing last year, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from checking out this anime series for themselves. Set in an alternate history where aliens invaded Japan, Samurai Gintoki Sakata tries to earn a living while dodging unwanted attention.

With a show featuring plenty of alien and human threats for Gintoki to face, those looking for a unique take on samurai tales can enjoy this one. In addition, it will be reminiscent of those who enjoy seeing human characters against such powerful and ominous odds.

Anyone who loves anime has undoubtedly heard or seen one of the various shows under the Dragon Ball name. Many have enjoyed watching Goku and Vegeta try to defeat each other as they fight against the greatest threats in the universe, especially in the storylines in Dragon Ball Super.
