Pokémon GO’s Season of Light’s Halloween 2022 Event Part II Event Guide

Now that we’re closer to Halloween, it’s time for Niantic to kick off Part II of Pokémon GO’s Halloween event. The Halloween 2022 Event Part I summoned a lot of Ghost-type Pokémon, and while most of them are hanging out for Halloween 2022 Event Part II, costumed Pokémon are joining in too! In addition, some costumed Pokémon from last year’s Halloween event are back and can be caught again.

Part I candy bonuses are still active, along with an increased Shiny percentage for Noibat (which hatches from eggs). In addition, there is still time to acquire and complete the Timed, Field, and Special Research tasks.

Get all the details here with our Halloween 2022 Event Part II event guide:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Light – Halloween 2022 Event Part II

begins: Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 10 a.m. local time.

Ends: Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. local time.

Pokémon Debuts – Halloween 2022 Costumed Vulpix, Ninetails, Gengar, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist

The Pokémon dressing up for this year’s Halloween event are Vulpix, Ninetails, Gengar, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist! These are some of the Pokémon starring in this year’s Halloween collection for Pokémon Center (called the Harvest Festival collection in Japan). Niantic refers to this year’s outfits as “Spooky Festival Costumes,” but for this guide, we’ll use “Costumed” when referring to these Pokémon (ie: Costumed Vulpix).

Niantic states in their blog post that Costumed Ninetails and Costumed Gourgeist are not shiny. This may have been made by mistake. The only way to acquire them is through evolving costumed versions of their base evolution (Vulpix and Pumpkaboo). We’ll know for sure once the event is live (as costumed Pokémon are limited to no evolution if certain parameters are met, like costumed Pikachu and Raichu who don’t have that outfit).

Event Bonuses

  • 2× Candy to catch Pokémon
  • 2× Candy to hatch Pokémon
  • 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon
  • Trainers of level 31 and above are guaranteed to receive one Candy XL when they walk with their buddy
  • PokéStops and Gyms will be decorated with Halloween themed decor
  • A remix of the Lavender Town music will be played every night during the event (you can listen to the remix via the official Pokémon GO YouTube channel)

As the Halloween Timed Research (Ticket 2, costs US$5) has been purchased, instead, the following bonuses will apply:

  • 3× Candy to catch Pokémon
  • 3× Candy to hatch Pokémon
  • 3× Candy for transferring Pokémon
  • Trainers of level 31 and above are guaranteed to receive two Candy XL when they walk with their buddy

Event boxes

So far we know the Event Boxes that debuted during Part I of the event. They are as follows:

  • Creepy Crate (425 PokéCoins): 1 Super Incubator and 2 Egg Incubators.
  • Pumpkin Pack (1,200 PokéCoins): 4 Super Incubators, 6 Egg Incubators, 1 Incense and 1 Lure Module.
  • Boo Bundle (2,000 PokéCoins): 8 Super Incubators, 8 Egg Incubators, 20 Ultra Balls and 3 Remote Raid Passes.

If newer boxes replace these, we’ll update the guide with that information after the event goes live.

Additional notes:

  • Pokémon marked with a * means “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny!”
  • According to Niantic, “Noibat hatching from these eggs will also have a higher chance of being shiny than Noibat found in the wild.”

Field Research Tasks

More field research tasks will be available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Costumed Pikachu* (from Halloween 2021), Costumed Vulpix*, Shuppet* (Niantic accidentally shows Baltoy in their announcement), Duskull*, Yamask*, Galarian Yamask* , and Fantump. Some tasks also reward Trainers with Gengar or Absol Mega Energy. These Field Research tasks can be found spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open space in your Field Research menu) when the event is active. A full list of tasks and associated rewards will be added here once the event is live. Given the overlap with the Halloween 2022 Event Part I, there’s a good chance those Field Research Tasks are still active. If so, they are the following:
