The parents of TikTok, Ty and Haley Kelly, regularly post videos about their lives for their 1.2+ million followers.
Usually, their videos show a strong family with young children having adventures and having a lot of fun.
But this time, a family trip to Disney World started a big backlash, they didn’t have to delete the clip in question, but they had to make someone apologize for what they did.
In the recently released video, Ty and Haley put their 3-year-old son, Kannon, in padded shoes to help him meet the high standards for running the motion simulator Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and the child-friendly Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster. If Kannon doesn’t recommend paddle shoes, he doesn’t make the high demands to ride these bikes.
The Kellys did not expect the backlash and critical comments about their irresponsibility after the video was published, and then they deleted it from their TikTok and Instagram accounts. Not long after they posted another video where they talked about their actions and explained why they deleted contact information, but that video has since been deleted.
Hmmmm….
Thankfully, we have a transcript…
“Everyone, so we want to talk about this Disney shoe situation again.
So what started out as us trying to make a fun video for our audience that we hope you’ll enjoy soon became us realizing that what we post has more impact. in our field than we originally thought.
When we realized this, we also realized that we have more power than we first thought and that power, if expressed in a negative way, can have an effect. ripple that can cause injury or harm to others.
The couple assured their followers that Kannon was “unharmed and very well,” and “they know that this may not be the case for another child. And the last thing we want to do is anything we post on our social media is going to hurt.
Haley said after confirming that information had been taken,
“We hope that you will give us the opportunity to prove that we love our children, we love you and we love each other. With power comes responsibility, and it takes a lot We ask for that.”
Ty added,
“We want to assure you that moving forward, we will take our actions and what we publish on our social media very seriously. This is a responsibility. It is a responsibility to set an example. good for those who follow us.
And if anyone doubts them, they wrote the video, wrote,
“With power comes responsibility, and we take that very seriously. It’s a privilege to have the platforms we do, and we don’t want anyone to be hurt by an idea from one of our video.
With that being said, we decided to take something about the Disney shoe video. We hope that in time, you will realize that we are serious about the information we put out there for the public to see, and we are committed to being careful and thoughtful with our posts moving forward.
We want our platforms to be like home, and a safe place for you to come and relax, be uplifted, inspired and hopefully entertained. We love you all. #thekellyfam.”
Emotions ranged down the empathy spectrum.
Lessons have been learned.
Jokes were made.
But at the end of the day, their true love turns out to be true.
