One Piece Film: Red Anime Film Shoots Past 10 Billion Yen At JP Box Office

One Piece Film: Red has reached heights and taken bounties heavier than any anime movie in the franchise has ever dreamed, with the official Twitter account affirmative this morning the film produced by Toei Animation passed 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office, and in just 20 days. This makes A piece the 41st film in Japan to ever pass this mark and currently the 11th highest-grossing film in the country.

From August 25, the 20th day of the film in cinemas, One Piece Film: Red has brought in 10 billion yen (US$72.86 million) on the back of 7.2 million tickets sold. The One Piece movie was already Toei Animation’s highest-grossing anime movie, but it’s now over all Detective Conan anime movies and is on track to get both Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Three Upon a Time even JUJUTSU KAISEN 0.

One Piece Film: Red is also the second fastest film in Japan to reach the 10 billion yen milestone, 5 days ahead of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away. Spirited Away once held that record for nearly two decades until Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train broke the record in October 2020.
