RGGS: We are going to establish the new way of the franchise with Like A Dragon, easy to understand for new people coming to the franchise…

*Nagoshi leaves RGGS and Sega*

RGGS: Well, just forget what we said, daddy Kiryu now has to carry his franchise back for three whole games. Wait, which means you don’t know who Dragon of Dojima is?

It all started with a project to create the children of the Dragon of Dojima, even though he never had s#me….

But yeah, like Kiryu already had about 10 games. He at least started to get older but went completely kpop

Ishin! is superior to Kenzan! so better to flee Japan if only one can be chosen. I joined when Sega said that samurai games wouldn’t sell, so they both had to stay in Japan. LOL.

They never intended to drop Kiryu even after 6 am so is expected to continue.

Long live the true protagonist.

If that were the case, 6 should never have been written with the idea that it was Kiryu riding into the sunset. Especially since apparently this should also happen with the 3rd.

As long as RGG avoids a Saiban 4 moment, this can work.

I think it’s always been about him trying to escape that life, so I don’t really see it any different. 6 for me only one chapter of his life has come to an end and everything after that is a new chapter that Gaiden will explain further. I’m incredibly biased though, I never wanted it to be the end so this is good news for me and there’s nothing more hype than two main protagonists coming together.

Well 7 by a big story twist gives him and anyone who is or was affiliated with the Yakuza a big out. Although Kiryu’s arrangement that was drafted at the end of 6 is still in effect.

Supposedly and by chance this was done to appease those who didn’t like Ichiban’s Dragon Quest inspired romp… why did they have to make Gaiden, which revolves around Kiryu? Confused

So on the stream, Yokoyama said that Gaiden is meant to explain what happened to Kiryu between Y6-Y7 and after he meets Ichiban/Y7-8. It’s a “Y7” Gaiden for that reason and a pivotal story. It’s for longtime fans who have been playing since 1 and curious about Kiryu and for newcomers to get to know him before 8, as many people didn’t pick up the series until 7am instead of letting players play 6 titles.

I think although new players who are very curious about Kiryu and his importance in the mythos will still be in limbo if they haven’t played a fraction of the games including 6……although if I played 6 , I would probably be annoyed l.

You go look at that. Like a Dragon and 8. 1. The translation name of the series in Japan that the localizers should have used from the start. 2. Localizers mentioned specifically stated that they removed the ‘7’ from the title as it would intimidate the consumer, etc. 3. Now they have added the number back, but a higher one, and are using the name they should have use from the start. I’ll give them some slack: should have been used with the PS4 releases from 0 for consistency. Their own localization logic will further intimidate and confuse consumers.

It only took 1 game to contradict their previous statement/decision. That’s hilarious. As always, localization logic never makes sense.

Kind of weird to see this series going of some sort of niche to basically the Japanese Call of Duty with annual/multi-year releases now.

However, I think the series fell after 4. 0 was great though.
