Fortnite: Chapter 3 – Season 3 Story Recap – Everything you may have missed

After the Fortnite: Battle Royale Chapter 3 – Season 2 “Collision” spectacle, the evil Imagined Order (IO) has been foiled once and for all, or so it seems. The IO held the zero point captive for their mission to perfect all worlds by making their inhabitants fight – only for analysis. Those who oppose them, The Seven, are now handling matters on the island, as the Zero, his cosmic blueberry, rests from constant mistreatment.

With only peace and love on the horizon, Chapter 3 – Season 3 was just Vibin’, with Joel McHale’s Scientist in charge of weekly Quests. The eccentric researcher of the Seven feared that clearing the zero would cause unpredictable chaos, which it certainly did.

Trees and mushrooms clouded the horizon as a gigantic biome transferred zero-point energy out of nowhere. And so the Vibin’ quests began when The Scientist called on players to dig up some roots.

Here’s everything that happened in Fortnite: Chapter 3 – the season 3 story.

Get rid of the old

After winning reality’s worst, the island geared up to party. The scientist asked players to set up some party poppers and perform other non-alcoholic cocktail tasks. Exploring all the remaining post-war IO junk was also part of the quests, turning them into modern art installations – not a big improvement.

But with the way Zero had reacted to his freedom, The Scientist began to worry. To understand what was going on, he asked for several scans of the Reality Tree’s pulsating roots that grew into the west of the island. One of Fortnite’s cutest characters, Bushranger, offered a leaf from his wooden body to see his reaction to the new biodiversity, which led the scientist to ask him to plant it at the base of the giant tree.

Players received a back-bling cosmetic as a reward for these first few quests: Bushy’s Bulb.

In With The Angel

No Fortnite season goes by without some iconic crossovers, and this time Darth Vader finally got in on it. Zero spewed all sorts of weirdness, mostly new weapons to use, but one of them was a mysterious artifact important to Vader.

At the start of each match, Darth Vader’s shuttle landed at a randomly chosen drop spot next to a handful of his Stormtroopers. They brought some of their weapons alongside Vader’s lightsaber, hopefully to practice their aim.

After some digging, the relic turned out to be a Sith Holocron, a device containing important information for Darth Vader’s evil faith. The scientist tasked AMIE, his Artificial Machine Intelligence Engine, to help players discover where the lost artifact had gone.

It was last scanned in the last place the scientist would look, the island’s turbulent shores, and stolen by Cryptic, a character in Rave Cave. When AMIE tried to trade him for it, he cheated on her and so she retaliated by attacking him with robots. She is terrifyingly excited. Finally retrieving it set off a Zero Point shockwave—which would only get worse from here.

Relic Archeology

Another LucasFilm character was part of Chapter 3 – Season 3’s Battle Pass: Indiana Jones. Boulders have been added all over the island to simulate players’ classic fear of running for their lives. A relic was split into three fragments at the brand new location added to celebrate Indy’s entry into the game: Shuffled Shrines.

By aligning the shards in different biomes and reassembling them deep in the temple chambers, the second relic was put together and another shock wave took place. The scientist believed there was a reason behind the zero point to bring all these realities together by selecting one item from them, but admitted that the shock waves were not a good sign.

After some time had passed, The Scientist and AMIE traveled to The Seven’s Synapse Station to study the situation – just in time for a third and final relic to make landfall on the island. And this time it was Fortnite’s iconic red chair, which has been in the game from the start.

AMIE asked players to perform a training montage to see if it was possible to destroy the shield around the seat, and then the grueling task was done with one blow of a pickaxe. These quests came out just in time for the Dragon Ball collaboration, which also had its own set of training montages. But retrieving the comfortable artifact raised more questions than answers, with the Zero Point shockwaves now visible from light-years away. AMIE, who didn’t stop to refer to The Scientist as different versions of “daddy,” withdrew with him as they pondered what the future might hold.

Para, Para, Paradigm

The Foundation, leader of the Seven, went missing. AMIE tasked the crew’s elusive pilot to find him: The Paradigm. However, what seemed like just another week of quests to wrap up a season of good vibes turned out to be a prelude to some chrome spookiness.

Five members of the Seven were missing: Foundation, Visitor, Origin, Imagined and Order. AMIE noticed that the zero point brought in an old Seven coms relay, which was being charged by players, but returning nothing but static. Paradigm then found most of the crew underground and asked for some gear as they went off-grid, but the reunion was cut short by a terrifying tape.

In it, The Scientist bids farewell when something seems to be kidnapping him, saving his last words to almost declare himself to Paradigm, his longtime partner in saving reality – but ending with a gloomy silence.

In summary, Season 3 – Chapter 3’s story centered around the previous season’s war and party preparations that were interrupted by artifacts from all sorts of universes, then interrupted by a mysterious force that kidnapped Fortnite’s heroes.

Teasers for the upcoming Chapter 3 – Season 4, titled “Paradise”, show a chromium liquid consuming someone trying to escape. It looks like the new season will act as a scary beautiful palette cleanser for weeks of Dragon Ball, summer extravaganzas, and a well-written addition to Fortnite’s canon.

Fortnite is free to play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Android.
