‘Do or Die’ – Boruto Manga Chapter 66 Review

boruto manga chapter 66, ‘Do or Die’, contained a lot of action and delivered a very shocking moment at the end. Can’t wait to see where the story goes in the next chapter!

One of the things I appreciated about ‘Do or Die’ was that no time was wasted explaining how Kawaki accessed the power of his Karma Mark after Isshiki’s death. As it turns out, although Amado presented Kawaki with a choice, our young, troubled co-lead never really had a say in the matter.

Amado knew that Kawaki wanted to come to power to protect Naruto from incoming threats. Apparently, the only way for Kawaki to gain such power was to accept Amado’s offer to get a key to access the power contained in his Karma Mark and use it as a weapon. Though Kawaki declined Amado’s offer, the dark scientist had other plans. It is revealed that Amado had already reconstructed the Karma Mark when he repaired Kawaki’s arm!

At this point, I would like Naruto, Sasuke, and Shikamaru to have a long chat with Amado to let him reveal his true intentions. He is clearly playing a game and it seems that everyone, including Kawaki and Boruto, are his pawns. I have no idea what Amado’s purpose should be. Is he trying to prepare for a threat nobody else knows about? Is the Otsutsuki God coming to Earth soon?

I would like to know the answers to these questions and I hope that the boruto manga delivers some satisfying explanations down the line. I also wish Naruto would stop trusting Amado like that. Like, the dude isn’t even trying to hide that he’s up to something.

As for the action beats in ‘Do or Die’, I liked watching Kawaki BoruShiki give it a hard time with his Isshiki-focused Karma Mark. Kawaki had mastered Isshiki’s powers fairly quickly and was even able to incorporate the benefits of a scientifically enhanced body into his attacks. Kawaki went for the kill and I was here for it!

I really think Kawaki would have managed to end the fight earlier if Naruto hadn’t intervened. While I understand that Naruto intervened to protect his son (even though he was possessed by Momoshiki), I don’t understand that the code doesn’t kill Shikamaru. Code had made it clear in the previous manga release that he would kill Shikamaru if Naruto moved even an inch.

Frankly, I think Code not killing Shikamaru was due to the ease of a plot rather than really making sense to his character. At least Shikaramu could tell that Code was talking to Eida. So again, Naruto and co. Amado needs to sit down and get him to talk about what’s really happening!

The biggest moment in ‘Do or Die’ happened during the final moments of BoruShiki vs Kawaki. Boruto was finally able to regain some degree of control over his body by taking the pills Amado had given him some time ago. Boruto realized that his control over Momoshiki would be temporary. He knew that as BoruShiki he was a major threat to the whole world.

The boruto The franchise has had a few moments where Boruto pondered whether he’s strong enough to do the right thing, even if it meant taking his own life. ‘Do or Die’ showed that our young hero was indeed strong enough. Boruto pushed Naruto away and asked Kawaki to kill him before Momoshiki took over again, making for a very impressive scene.

Though the two grew closer as brothers over the course of the story, they were both aware of what needed to be done to protect everyone they cared about.

Do or Die Boruto manga 66 review

Is Boruto really dead now? I highly doubt it. I also don’t think he will return as a cyborg. I think he will somehow heal and the threat of Momoshiki taking over his body will continue for the time being. I wouldn’t be surprised if Naruto found a way to share his life energy to keep his son alive.

Is it just me or does the hole in Boruto’s chest look like a heart?

With such a cliffhanger ending, I can’t wait to see what readers have in store when the next manga chapter comes out in February!

How about ‘Do or Die’? How will Boruto be healed?

Let us know.
