…drum roll please. August is coming to an end, and that actually means a lot of things, but in this case, get ready for the September releases. You’ve heard us say a few times how big that month has become. But don’t despair just yet, let’s close out August first.

Welcome to part 3, episode 15 of our weekly publishing guide. A look at the highlights of what’s coming to the disc this week, as well as a look at last week’s announcements.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases

Import Monday starts with a Zavvi Exclusive SteelBook for Halloween kills.

No real ‘new releases’ don domestic release Tuesday.

However, the latest title to get a 4K release is the hit anime Belle, by Shout Factory/GKIDS. This one has some swag to go with it. You all know how much I love swag, give it a try if you like anime!

Scream Factory Releases cat people after a small delay.

LionsGate has another 4K Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook style with cover for 2011 warrior.

Boutique label Vinegar Syndrome has a standard edition for Miami connection this week, and Severin Films has faceless.

Next week, Gru, the sprawling final frontier, a train ride, a carnival, and a BDP thriller.

Blu-ray releases

There is one blu-ray counterpart of the above 4K releases, faceless from Severin Films.

The category TV on disc includes 1883: A Story of the Origin of Yellowstone, The Bionic Woman: The Complete Series and Good Witch: The Complete Series.

This week’s LionsGate entry is a comedy/horror titled American massacre.

With an announcement 3.5 seconds before the street date, Universal brings us the 2022 comedy Brian and Charles.

How about a little more comedy, but from Sony? The specter of openness comes on disc with a title that keeps calling your mind’s autocorrect something different.

Criterion Collectors BOLO for Faya Dayic.

From Arrow video, Giallo Essentials V3 Black Edition coming to a limited edition release. And if you’ve been waiting for a good release of Collection of running out of timehopefully Arrow is behind you there too.

Anime highlights include: Fatal Fury the movie [SteelBook], Lupine the 3rd US Detective Conan the TV special, Project A-ko 2, Rent-A-Girlfriend: complete collection [Premium Box Set], Sonny Boy – The Complete Season and What if a kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town? – The complete season which is available as a standard edition and a Limited Edition.

Honorable mention this week is a Shout Select release titled A walk in the woods with Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson.

Next week’s Blu-ray slate is a little light, which is a huge burden off our backs for 4K buyers.

Notable announcements from last week:

Knowing that September is a very, VEERRRYYY busy month for new releases, is anyone surprised that Disney has that? just announced Thor: Love and Thunder for a September 27 release date? Check out the news item for a list of all available physical options. I’m going to shut up now before I say something I shouldn’t.

There are 88 movies coming out Police story 3: Supercop to 4K and Blu-ray on December 13. If you choose to import, Eureka will release the trilogy in September for 4K.

Arrow Videos North American slate (alongside Shawscope Volume Two) now also includes: Audrey Rose and Unbelievable but true. However, if you’re okay with buying import products, they have multiple 4K editions of Robin Hood: Prince of Thievesas well as a 4K edition to wolf of wall street. You have to wonder if either will get an Arrow US release like True love did (one year after the fact). I’m actually quite surprised that Warner hasn’t released Robin Hood to 4K, maybe they will, maybe not.

More TV on CBS disc with Hogan’s Heroes: The Complete Series coming October 25.

Classic cinema from Universal with Kill a mockingbird coming to 4K on October 11. A firm rumor that Warner Bros will be releasing Casablanca to 4K in November…hopefully the US gets a similar set that the UK is sure to get, one with a book, theater tickets, movie poster or other swag?
