Even classic anime can be haunted by mysteries and there are several reasons why anime leaves something a mystery.

The production team may have simply forgotten a character or plot thread. Sometimes there were plans, but the series was either rushed or ended too early. Finally, some anime intentionally keeps things ambiguous so that the viewer can imagine the explanation they want. Of course, things can also go unanswered as a joke.

As for Panty’s fate, at least the “Geekboy Homecoming” comic shows Brief finally getting her back together.

In Inuyasha, Kagome falls into the Bone-Eater’s Well in feudal Japan, which is filled with yokai and liquor. This era is treated as the past of Kagome’s present life. Kagome even meets her classmate’s ancestor, Hōjō. However, there is a surprisingly inexplicable lack of yokai in the present.

Supernatural elements occasionally appear in modern times. The Noh mask is damaged by a Shikon jewel. Kagome also once encountered the ghost of a young child. Because of this, the lack of yokai cannot be explained with magic that “dies” or that this is an alternate reality.

In pokemon, the GS Ball is a mysterious Poké Ball that no one can open, even with brute force. The name and design are based on: Pokémon Gold and Silverappear half gold and half silver. In the anime, Ash was tasked with getting Professor Ivy’s ball and taking it to Professor Oak to study.

Despite appearing in several episodes, the series never quite revealed what was inside the GS Ball. Masamitsu Hidaka finally explained in an interview that the GS Ball originally had a Celebi. Initially, Celebi would have been the focus of another storyline. However, when it was decided that the fourth film would focus on Celebi, the earlier plot point was scrapped.

However, Shun claims it’s just a bruise and Ranze’s family is banned from the Makai world until they can find the prince.

Shun’s mother later confirms that the star is indeed a birthmark, but the story really doesn’t reveal any further than that. Shun tries to explain this new information to Ranze, but they are interrupted by Yoko. That’s where the series ends.

It is often theorized, even within the series, that the titular heroine of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a literal god, but what Haruhi actually is seems to be a mystery. Koizumi, who presents the theory that she is a god, has doubts herself. Likewise, it can sometimes be unclear whether Haruhi has used her reality-building powers or not.

Regardless of whether she is a god or not, Haruhi is still quite powerful, capable of creating, destroying or even distorting reality, otherwise known as ‘data’. Haruhi can even split a reality in two.

1/10 What’s wrong with Yusuk’s father?

In YuYu Hakusho, not much information is given about Yusuke’s father, such as his name or why things didn’t work out between him and Yusuke’s mother, Atsuko. Complicating things is that he does appear in the manga. The brief appearance reveals that he has an on-again, off-again relationship with Atsuko.

Yusuke’s father also seems interested in Yusuke, but Atsuko claims that their son would kill him if he came back. Some fans take the twist that Yusuk is a descendant of Raizen as hinting at his father’s identity. However, the series never really gets into whether it was his mother or his father who had yokai blood.
